Wow! What a slot car set!
Start with the cars that have won the legendary Le Mans 24 Hour race for the past 4 years, Audi's dominant R10 TDI and the extraordinary Peugeot 908. AFX brings these beauties to HO scale for the first time. And with a level of detail and realism no one else can match. But that's just the beginning.
Add 35 feet of quality AFX track in a classic road racing layout that is both challenging and fun. And all of the corners are big, sweeping 12" or 18" large radius curves, a combination you can only get from AFX. These corners let you get into a super fun, high speed rhythm. And you can even fit the whole layout in a 4' x 6.5' area so it will go just about anywhere.
To top it off you get the exclusive AFX Tri-Power Pack that lets first timers and youngsters learn how to drive at their own pace without the cars flying off the track at every corner. With Beginner, Intermediate and Expert levels you can go as slow or as fast as you like. And no one else has it.
These new bodies make full use of the new Mega-G chassis: the lightest, lowest , best handling chassis we've ever made.
You just can't get around it, for realism, performance and value no one beats AFX.
Naturally we're prejudiced. So how about a second opinion? Here is a review by the folks at Slot Car Illustrated. They tear it apart and tell it like it is.
This is a completely new chassis that sets a new standard for performance. It is not just faster, it corners better and is more fun to drive. Check out this laundry list of firsts:
24 hour set is far larger than it looks. this is a great way to build a super fast track ;). the curves are the large radius, 12\15”, and this makes it easy to put two sets together, to make a massive four lane track. you just need a lot of space ;)

I just got this set for my grandson. He is 5 and I am 45. I still remember my first AFX raceset and he will remember this the same way. The Tri power setting is great for him because you can go nearly full throttle on the controllers with out the cars flying off the track. The cars are so much smoother than the competiton and I know because I bought 2 other brands to run on this track. The others arent bad, but they definetly are not as smooth as the Mega G AFX cars. My only critisism would be I wish the controllers had that 20% of spring pressure back as sometimes they dont always go all the way off with out a bit of a finger push. Bring back those child hood memories and get the kids away from the video games for a bit. Were also going to be building models of our house, his school, Gas Station, etc to go around the track so that this can be an ongoing hobby for us.
24 Hour Champions Set - 12-11-2012
Purchasing a set rather than parts allows a big savings, and gives spares to enhance or back up an existing layout. Not only are the cars current, they are the best detailed yet from AFX. New, three voltage setting powerpack is a plus.Appreciate the wider radius turns, as they are more realistic; so are the silver colored guardrails. Beware, though; these new cars (as well as the Mega G open wheelers) can get hung up under these rails. Time for FIA curbing! Would like to see an improved controller at sometime, but I'm being greedy; this set is more than worth the price
